This assignment has been inspired by my Methods II Class’ “Web 2.0 Wiki” and Christopher Shamburg’s lesson “Teaching with Fanfiction” from his book English Language Arts Units for Grades 9-12. I posted my assignment on a web site that allows students to view and complete the assignment by creating their own “poster.” For this particular assignment, the students will create an additional concluding chapter to Tony Earley’s Jim the Boy using Pixton.com’s comic strip generator. In addition to creating their own comic-strip ending, they have to post (on their poster) a brief explanation of their “last chapter” as well as post positive comments on their classmate’s comic (Pixton allows for people to comment on the strips).
